Overvoltage Protection
Option for Series A1110

Function#
To prevent damage to an amplifier, no voltages greater than the positive or negative supply voltage may be applied to the amplifier output. However, in some applications, the peripherals connected to the amplifier cannot always reliably ensure this requirement. This option therefore monitors the voltage at the amplifier output to prevent excessive voltages from the peripherals.
If a dangerous voltage value occurs at the amplifier output, the option internally short-circuits the output via two silicon diode paths. The voltage then drops to approx. 1.5...2 V. The short-term current peak may reach 2,000 A for a period of 10 ms (with any polarity). At the same time, the amplifier is switched off.

Features#
- Protects the amplifier and short-circuits the output when overvoltage is detected
- Galvanically isolated signal output that indicates when protection has been triggered and that switches off connected peripherals
- Configuration and status query via software (via graphical user interface and set of commands)

Applications#
- High-voltage battery tests
- Tests with inductive loads
- HV on-board power supply emulator
- Automotive standards: including LV123, ISO 21498-2, VW80300
